Consumer Evaluations

I picked up a set of gray units from OnFair and did a quick installation myself in an Odyssey. However I have the dark gray interior and these units are light gray. They're not that noticeable but I went into this realizing they would not be a great match. Running the cables through the seat back are pretty hassle-free in this vehicle, but power can be a pain if you are not comfy with finding and tapping off of an accessory source.
My first problem was that the head rest posts are especially narrow so you have to use some supplied sleeves that make the posts a bit fatter and take up a great deal more space within the head rest holes inside the seat. The dilemma was that even with the sleeves installed I could not raise the head rest and get it to latch into location. Which means, if you raise the head rest it doesn't stay. This is not a biggie for me as I never use or raise it anyhow but for those who do, you will lose this functionality result in the tiny mechanism that's supposed to come into make contact with with the head rest post doesn't reach the post due to its slim design.
The designers believed of just about everything in terms of functionality in that audio for either A or B channel for separation with head sets operates well and the FM transmitter functions largely quite great so that you can hear it in the car's stereo. However, I located that somebody cannot be listening on one head rest with head phones even though the other transmits result in we'd get some interference in the head phones. Also, you will need to make positive that each head rests are NOT transmitting on the same channel even if the very same movie is being shown on each result in you will get interference as well. The ability to watch different films on each and every unit or watch the same movie on each is really cool and worth running the cables for, but use only one for an audio supply or make certain you're employing unique channels for each unit.

My 8 yr old has them down although in terms of promptly setting them, but this is a hassle lead to you have to set the channel to broad cast on as well as enable the input of the 2nd unit if you happen to be watching the first unit's output each time you turn the vehicle on. There are a lot of features but I guess it's better than getting to navigate an onscreen menu. Speaking of navigating, the remotes are particularly tiny and thin. But they too include way also numerous buttons. It makes usage and navigation in the dark impossible for each the head rest buttons and remote controller.
I also opted for a 3rd set of head phones. Beware that the extra head sets are not the similar was what comes with the head rests and do not fit over the ears like the ones packaged with the head rests. They also have restricted adjustments so do not fit nicely on little heads. Thankfully I identified that not all three children had been wanting to wear them so this became a non problem, which signifies I almost certainly did not want them...but still a disappointment.
Finally, shipping was particularly slow as the units were on back order. We wanted them for an upcoming trip and I received them 2 days prior to departure, which was more than three weeks from when ordered.
Now, sufficient of the bashing and on to the very good stuff. I feel the units are pretty well produced and the screen/hinge mechanism feels solid. I did not see any dead pixels (but) and the color is bright and vivid. I picked up the game pack and tried a handful of. I consider the inclusion of it is fairly kewl and the games are low cost entertainment (despite the fact that the controllers really feel fairly lightweight). They did a good job with offering the important cabling and installation is pretty straight forward. The packaged head phones that come with the head rests are comfy and fit small heads nicely (skip the additional ones). The range of features is impressive in terms of how you can watch movies and distribute audio. Speaking of audio, the built-in speakers inside the head rests are of moderate quality, but it does give a different choice. I have but to attempt, but you also have other forms of input such as for USB and SD which again delivers additional flexibility. Lastly, for the value, I assume the feature set out weighs all of the negative items I noted and tends to make these units a steal. If I had paid a lot much more then the above noted regions of concern would grow to be honestly significant concerns and this would be a 2 star rating. But when factoring in the cost this certainly a spectacular invest in.

Immediately after reading so several mixed evaluations, I decided to take a chance and try them out for myself. I have to admit, the 1 page (if you'd like to call it that) of "installation" instructions was pretty humorous. I agree with other individuals on that component.
The hardest element was obtaining the wiring diagram for my Equinox. We lastly decided to tap into the accessory powerlet in the middle console. Once we did that, the rest of the installation was a breeze.
The sound quality from the speakers are genuinely fantastic and getting wireless headsets is definately a bonus. The finest element is getting two DVD players. Now on our lengthy trips we will not hear any arguing more than which movie to watch. They every have their own. Ahh the peace and quiet we will have now.
I am yet amazed at the complaints about the seller getting non responsive on the units. The units are clearly marked that you have a a single year warranty with an address and directions on what to do if it breaks. I am not confident why you would try to send it to the seller, that is like acquiring a Pansonic Television from Finest Purchase and 6 months down the line you have troubles with it and complaining to Perfect Purchase... Why? You speak to the manufacturer or their authorized repair center for that product.
I did get a SquareTrade Warranty on the device, so it's great to know that it is protected for 3 years with accidental insurance on it. I would recommend it given that it's the children that will be applying it and they can be a tiny rough with points at times.
I would have to say, compared to my Insignia Dual Headrest monitors (that just strapped to the back of the headrests and were $199.99) that this was a substantially superior deal and well worth the dollars and time spent.
