Consumer Critiques

This amplifier is really a 40 watt amplifier with a peak output of 120 Watts. This is clearly a misrepresentation and the specifications are totally incomplete.

OK, no one is obtaining this amp considering that it is the preferred. But it IS inexpensive, and at least the a single I received worked perfectly. It looks decent enough to place on a shelf, and the volume indicator on the front is a fantastic piece of visual bling.
My key objections to this unit are that the mic inputs are unbalanced on 1/4" jacks positioned on the front panel. I had some concern that with the somewhat lengthy mic cable I needed to use, I could possibly begin choosing up the local radio station or general interference happily, that was not the case, and with a quickie 1/4" to XLR adapter, the program worked perfectly. Other individuals have commented that this unit does not method the listed 120 watts, but is significantly closer to 40 watts that is undoubtedly accurate, but it is also the least expensive out there 40 watt amp with 70 volt outputs. The truth that it has two mic inputs as nicely as a front panel input for portable players - walkmen (bear in mind walkmen?) or mp3 players makes for a nice install.
Would I rather have a Crown? Sure. And when Crown starts generating comparable units obtainable for well below $100, I'll certainly go with them. Assuming this one particular does not die in the next year or so, it really is excellent worth for the funds.
